Conversational

Against a carefully curated dining experience, participants will delve into one of the toughest leadership calls facing data leaders today, sharing their experiences, challenges and strategies for deciding where their data lives.

From weighing early adoption of advanced AI against legal certainty to keeping sensitive data in bounds as shadow AI quietly sends it across borders, this roundtable promises a candid, off-the-record exchange of ideas. Attendees will explore the true cost of sovereign cloud, the toll fragmentation takes on a single source of truth, shifting and contradictory regulation, the rise of sovereignty-washing, and how realistic their hyperscaler exit plans really are.

As the evening unfolds, participants will also confront the mandate question few organisations have settled: who actually owns sovereignty? Is it the CDO, CIO, CISO, legal or procurement? Don’t miss this opportunity to join a unique gathering of peers where the real risks are named, what’s working is shared, and deliberate choices about data take centre stage.

Chairperson Opening Remarks and Welcome

7.00pm

Over a beautiful three course dinner, Roundtable Key Discussion Questions:
1. Move the data, or move the question?
Sovereignty rules push data to stay local, but the business still wants a global view, and AI wants access to everything. Is analysing data where it lives a real way out of that tension, or does federation simply move the sovereignty problem from the data to the results?
2. Can you give AI access without giving up control?
The most capable AI tends to arrive first in US regions, and shadow AI already sends data across borders. What would it take to give models and agents governed access to sensitive data without that data leaving the jurisdiction? And who should be able to say no?
3. What does a sovereign architecture actually look like?
There's no agreed definition of "sovereign", and most enterprises depend on a handful of hyperscalers. Whether you're consolidating, federating, repatriating or sitting tight, which choices are reducing your risk and which are just adding cost and complexity? Who in your organisation owns that decision?

This Roundtable event is proudly sponsored by

Starburst was founded by the inventors of OS Trino so that data-driven companies could have a full-featured open data lakehouse platform powered by the #1 SQL analytics engine. Our end-to-end analytics platform includes the capabilities needed to discover, organise, consume, and share data with industry-leading price-performance for cloud and on-premises workloads. We believe the lakehouse should be the centre of gravity, but support accessing data outside the lake when needed. With Starburst, teams can access more complete data, run scalable analytics, lower the cost of infrastructure, use tools best suited to their needs, and avoid vendor lock-in. Trusted by companies like Apache Corporation, Comcast, DoorDash, DBS Bank, and VMware, Starburst helps you make better decisions faster on all data.
