If you could make one prediction for the future of D&A in 2025, what would it be?

The Democratization of AI, and its expansion to a wide variety of areas. In 2025, we’ll witness a significant democratization of AI and machine learning tools. Low-code and no-code platforms will empower a wider range of individuals, including those without much technical expertise, to leverage these technologies . This will lead to a surge in innovative applications across various industries, accelerating digital transformation and driving business growth.

What’s one of the biggest challenges your team faced this year, and how did you overcome it?

We launched a project this year which involved developing predictive models based on machine learning. Despite the challenge that the behavior data was extremely unbalanced thus making prediction a very tough task, the most challenging part was on identifying and collecting data from a diverse yet siloed set of data sources, and subsequently consolidating them into one single data set with all data errors, inconsistency and incompleteness fixed. 70% of our effort was on getting the data ready for building the AI models! We’re now exploring with the data owners to move their data into a centralized data lake to benefit all downstream applications.

Any professional or personal goals for 2025 you’d like to share?

My top personal goal for 2025 is to send my son off to the college that supports his academic aspirations while allowing him to enjoy a fulfilling campus life at the same time!

How do you like to unwind and recharge over the holidays?

I plan to spend a few days hitting the slope and skiing with my family during the Christmas break. I also hope to finish the book “Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know About the People We Don’t Know” (by Malcolm Gladwell) which I started a while ago!

Stay tuned for more data leaders as we approach Christmas Day.
