What’s a D&A practice or trend you’re excited to explore further in your job?

With AI becoming so prominent in 2024, it’s exciting to see the renewed focus on Data and Analytics products. Whereas these were once an afterthought, it’s now clear that teams need to position their data properly in order to fully leverage the value of AI in analytics. This means focusing on building fewer, but more impactful solutions, each with a clear value proposition that aligns with the organization’s strategy.

What skill do you think every D&A professional should focus on in the coming year?

Partnership. It may sound like a cliché, but it’s true—we can only succeed when we find ways to work collaboratively with others. For leaders, this means a lot of give and take. You must be prepared to compromise and collaborate, even as you work to get your own ideas adopted. You build strong partnerships during quieter times, so that when the pressure is on, those relationships can deliver their full value.

What’s your favourite part of your festive dinner plate?

I’m from Portugal, and Christmas Eve (the 24th) is a big celebration. We always have salted codfish as the main dish. I couldn’t imagine a Christmas Eve without it!

If you could choose any destination to escape to in December or the New Year, where would it be?

A cabin somewhere high up on a snowy mountain, with a big fireplace and a fully stocked pantry.

Stay tuned for more data leaders as we approach Christmas Day.
