
What’s one of the biggest challenges your team faced this year, and how did you overcome it?
Data Enablement was a big area of focus this year and in order to do that aligning all business leaders to agree on the key metrics and their definitions was certainly a challenge. Bringing the teams together to the table, and focusing on the outcome and benefits of the WHY we are doing this exercise certainly helped make the process easier. Executive sponsorship is a key factor in the push down from top, to prioritize these efforts. Data Literacy was a close second and it will continue to be worked through in the coming year.
What skill do you think every D&A professional should focus on in the coming year?
How to add value/impact to everything that they work on. Understand the WHAT and WHY of what they are working on, whether it is a foundational necessity, solves a business problem or a step towards achieving a company strategic goal. As Data Leaders, it is our responsibility that we help our D&A ICs understand how their work ties to the broader goals and initiatives and the value and impact it adds.
Any professional or personal goals for 2025 you’d like to share?
Professional goal – Make my team a revenue generating team with it own revenue stream, thus showcasing the power of being data-driven in each area of the business.
